Our journey is off to a great start

At first I had the idea to write books specifically for children in Kibera, but then as some time went on I realized it maybe better to raise funds to purchase the types of books the community is in need of however I could take my passion of making children’s books and turn it into a promotional opportunity for the organization. I started to publish children’s books under the publisher Books for Kibera, and each book as a page that asks the reader if they are interested in donating a book to a child in Africa to please visit this site.

To my surprise and delight the very first book published became a #1 New Release on Amazon for several weeks when it was first published! It may not be a monumental achievement but it has certainly been exciting and a great start to promoting the organization.

When I first approached the partners in Kenya to ask if they would be interested in receiving books from donors in the United States they were all super excited and one said we will be a great success.
